“It’s the most beautiful time of the year,
Lights fill the streets spreading so much cheer,
I should be playing in the winter snow,”
If you are familiar with those 3 lines above, that’s part of Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe. The song is so catchy to my ears, giving me a gentle and peaceful Christmas ambient. Like Bieber’ sang in the song, Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year and I dont think anybody will disagree with the statement. Regardless of where you are, snow or snow-less, you can feel the presence unlike the remaining month of the year. People are catching up, scheduling for a Christmas dinner or two, with different kind of circles. Friends you may have missed for sometimes, friends you usually hang out with, and not forget to mention family and relatives. Everyone is (again) busy to setup a mini gathering everywhere.
Things are going not so different on my side. To be honest, I am not that kind of person who likes to setup a gathering with old friends and so. I tend to get myself busy with my current activities and (on the negative side) skip other things out. However, when someone asks me to join up for a catch up, I will be happy to allocate my time for them though. So, long story short, December has been very leaking for me in terms of financial wise. Apart from cafe hopping which I have tried to reduce, for the past 3 weeks I have my friends coming to Jakarta which I find myself need to host them all. P.s. I like to host my friends so much. Anyway, that’s not a big deal. Christmas is a Christmas, a month of joy to share with others, isn’t it?
So, yesterday, me and my other 12 buddies were having Christmas dinner. Well, not so exactly on Christmas but still under Christmas mood, aren’t we? The plan was initiated by Gideon who summoned some of us and it doubled up as others invited other parties (simply sounds like MLM business). The more the merrier, right? It was Letter D where we decided to have our little Christmas dinner at. My previous dining experiences in Letter D simply urges me to go back there.
Some of you might have heard of Letter D previously. Used to be known as Fine dining restaurant owned by Chef Degan (one of Masterchef Indonesia’ judges), designed in vintage minimalism way with dominant white and wooden theme for the interior makes me fall in love with the ambient. Latter days, I find out Letter D is actually owned by Tanamera Coffee. No wonder, Tanamera has its 3rd branch just next to Letter D. Thus, you can cross-order what Letter D and Tanamera are serving in both places.
Back to our Christmas dinner story, 13 of us decided to gather at 5pm where we have made a prior booking tables for 13. The table setting was self-decorated with some flowers. Simple decoration for a simple dinner.
As per my recommendation for what to eat, I recommended Chevon Satay, Talay Pao (which is so fresh), The Ox-Tale, Chili Beef Rice, and The Salmon. But for me, Chili Beef and Talay Pao are still the winners so far.
Never skip to shoot before eat, at least give it a try than never.
No Christmas dinner is complete without Gift-exchange. All wrapped by scraped newspaper, no one knows what is inside (unless they who bought the gift together). First of all, we got a paper written with a number indicating our upcoming gift. Calling the numbers one by one and we took the gift with the matched number written on the gift.
Next, unwrapping what we got one by one and see those priceless expressions.
and this is what I got, a cute glass from Maria.
The best dress of the night for me,
Last but not least, I would like to thank God for what happens in 2015. Been an amazing year, full of laugh and tears, joy and sadness, up and down, and learnt a lot from everyone around me. Thank you for good friends like them and may this friendship be staying next year, the year after, and so on.
Merry Christmas 2015 folks!
P.S. If you have difficulties in finding what to give for Christmas, go to Starbucks as you will find a lot of ideas what to buy. We had that here!
