Unlike the usual Saturday, this one is a lil bit different Saturday. Initially, I and a couple of friends planned to do a weekend Bandung trip, yet something happened few hours before the departure time where Osa was feeling unwell. Long story short, we gotta skip the trip whilst the rest kept going without us. On the brighter side, it turned out a slow Saturday where we both enjoyed pretty well.
As the scheduled Saturday turned out unplanned, we had no clue what is the agenda. One compulsory thing to do in the morning was to go to the airport to send her brother flying to Los Angeles for a baby born soon. Woot! Excited innit?! It wasn’t that long in the airport where I had my 2nd carbo consumption of the day, had eaten Nasi Tim previously at home then sucked up KFC in Soetta Airport. Not forget to mention I bought a pax of Roti Boy too. Can someone separate me from my appetite, please?
It was a very sleepy day, literally non-stop yawning day I must say. Consequently, we decided to caffeinated ourselves around Muarakarang. I remembered about the newly hype NôRD, thought it will be a good idea to pay a visit since I rarely explore much my living area. Out of a sudden, Ossa voted for a meal before coffee and I ended up accompany her for another carbo-intake. 3rd of the day already by 15.00hrs.
It’s coffee time! I know right, I have been writing like a super long introduction. But, yeh, let’s share a bit about NôRD which I just visited yesterday (as I am writing this post). Heard this place initially from @captainruby‘s blog post. I got the monochromatic feel right from the first glance. I had no clue for the exact location but I have faith it is located nearby Superindo Muarakarang. So, I simply headed there and slowing down towards Blok 5 there. Easily spotted not far after you turn before Superindo, a petite coffee shop with obvious carved signage on the wall.
It is very common that coffee shop comes in a small size these days. I don’t mind really, since for me quality comes before quantity. Anyway, if I were to be the owner, I’d rather make people queue rather than having a spacious venue with unoccupied seating. They successfully signify their monochromatic touch as their brand identity, clearly visible from the eye-catchy All-Black Black Eagle Victor Arduino Espresso machine, grey sofa, black-marble table on both inside and outside area. Looking sharp!
It was empty when we got there, good timing indeed as I got to pick wherever I want to sit on. Obviously the signature sofa in front of the cashier. The sweetest spot and the universal spot everyone will take photo at, I swear to God. We ordered a cup of Caps and Aeropress Ethiopia. I was curious with the coffee and purposely ordered differently to get a hint of each taste.
The cappuccino is a bit light to my preference, it was creamy and get me a sweet caramel note. It was not bad though. Yet, I prefer to have bolder composition for my capp.
The Aeropress was brewed with the Ethiopian. The goose-neck kettle simply caught my eye, comes with black dove paint, it definitely is overkill! Well, it feels pretty bold for the body with bright acidity and it tastes pretty good too!
For my preference, NôRD gives a homey ambient where you can actually sit and work the whole day. As per my visit, I can only spot light bites such as cakes and croissant. Heard that their Cendol Cake is a die-die must try, yet I was too full to feed my hungry soul yesterday. Gotta try it during my next visit!
The coffee is over, I guess its time to wrap my post here. To sum up, NôRD is definitely worth to visit when I need to get myself caffeinated around my home. Until next time!
